How to stop my puppy from tearing up everything?

my 10 month old yellow lab pup eats his bed,sofa,whatever he can get his mouth on.he's alone in his cage during the day but someone comes and walks him midday.he doesn't do it when everyone is around.we sprayed that bitter apple stuff to deter him but that didn't work.help!!! he's ruining his beds faster than we can buy them.
