What does it mean when a boy calls you his best friend?

There's this boy I like in my homeroom, and twice he's called me his "best friend." Like he said, "I'm going to go and sit in front of my best friend, Kristy," to his friends. He doesnt mean it like real best friends, I've only talked to him like 3 times. What does this mean?
