In College, why do some teachers make you give presentations in a job field u would never have to give one?

I am going to school to be a CAD tech. Why do teachers insist on this kind of thing. I could see if i was going into a field where i would have to do this sort of thing every day. Anybody else hate giving speeches in front of a cl.
